Everything was dark. Quiet. Nanashi Kamui sat back in his desk chair, staring intensely at the screen of his computer. It was late. 8:00. Maybe 9:00. He was supposed to be doing a report for history. He couldn't even think about what it was supposed to be about. Every light in his apartment was turned off, save for the computer's soft glow and the full moon outside.
How long had it been? Since he'd seen him....
But why was he thinking about him again!? The little twerp had brought him nothing but trouble... and now that he was gone, everything was quiet again.
"Too quiet..."
He scowled, silently cursing himself. Why was he complaining!? His life was good at the moment. He and Mimiru were dating. She was really nice, and she always seemed to know just how to make him smile. And he was getting fairly decent grades. Except for in math. He never payed attention in that stupid class. He prefered to sleep most of the time. Besides, numbers weren't his thing, words were.
Like for spell battles.
"DAMNIT!!!" He shouted, getting up out of his seat and kicking the wall. Which, of course, only resulted in a throbbing pain in his left toe. "Itai, 'tai, 'tai...."
As he hopped up and down on one foot, holding his injured one in both of his hands, he came to realize that no good would come from him just sitting here. After all, it wasn't like he was getting anywhere. Maybe he could go over to Mimiru's... she could give him the answ- ... er... help him.
So, his mind made up, he slipped on a pair of shoes and a coat and stepped outside of his apartment. At first he was a bit surprised at how dark it was. Then he remembered that it was night.
"Oh yeah..."
So, maybe visiting Mimiru wasn't a very good idea... he could always go to the park and think. He found that hanging around the park at night like some homeless druggie helped him clear his mind.
So, off he went towards the park.

" 'Ahh, the sweet smile my love, the lunar goddess shines down unto me, such beauty radiates from the silver rays of my goddess, my one, my love. ' Isn't that a beautiful piece of literature, my fellow feline friend?"
From quite seemingly out of nowhere, a charming baritone pierced through the heavy night air; its target? Why, none other than the strolling young man two sapphire blue eyes caught a hold of. Stepping out from the shadows into the path of the other male, was what someone could have sworn to be a foreigner; chin-length blonde hair, and those eyes, those deep azure eyes. Clutched in his hands was a small brown book; the pages worn from old age.
The foreigner wore a gentleman's outfit, consisting of a simple white dress shirt, black vest, and matching black slacks. Nothing more was unusual about him, aside from the fact he still possessed his ears and was abnormally articulate. Wait, articulate...as in, a master at words?
Something didn't seem all too right about this.
"My word, you certainly don't seem to be a legendary lad, now do you? How dear, looks can be deceiving I do suppose."
Closing the book shut with a small chuckle, the blonde feline gazed behind the other male, snapping his fingers as if to motion and bring forth someone.
"Ayatori, if you will please..."
The faint sounds of footsteps, hollow unnerving footsteps, grew louder and louder from behind; there was someone approaching, someone all too familiar.
"Homare-san, I am here, shall we begin our mission?" Empty, sorrowful.
But that voice.
“Indeed, my beloved Sacrifice, come to my side..."
Sacrifice?
Whoever had walked up a few yards behind Nanashi walked briskly past him without so much of a notice. Thought it was night, therefore it was low light, it was still painfully obvious to see just who it was. Gripping the figure around the shoulders to pull them closer, the blonde and figure began to glow with a soft blue light, even though a violent wind whipped all around suddenly.
"We've come to, how shall I say this bluntly? Oh, why don't you tell the nice young man...Kazuki..."
A pause, a sniffle.
"On behalf of Organization X, w-we've c-c-come to take y-you with us...Nameless-kun..."
It was him. Kazuki Ayatori, Kazuki, in the arms of his abusive Fighter.

"K-Kazuki..." The boy's normally dull blue eyes lit up in familiarity. "You... you're alive..." He couldn't believe his eyes. He had thought for sure...
But wait... he just finally realized what Kazuki had said. He backed away slightly, his eyes narrowing as his ears folded backwards and his tail swishing back and forth. "Wait... you... Kazuki... you want to..." It couldn't be. Kazuki wouldn't betray him! ... would he?
Either way, it was obvious what they wanted. They wanted a battle. Or, atleast, the rediculously articulate blonde one wanted a battle. He wasn't sure what to make of Kazuki... the little twerp just dissapears and then suddenly shows up again declaring he was "taking" him to... well, he wasn't exactly sure where they were taking him. But he sure as fucking hell didn't want to go.
He smirked. "Nameless, eh? I haven't been called that in a while. You people never listen, do you? That's not my name. My name's Nanashi. And I'm gonna kick your sorry ass."
He supposed it wasn't much in his favor that he hadn't had a "spell battle" in about a year or so. He was pretty damn rusty. Now... how did that phrase go again...? Battle... something... Oh, yes, that's right.
"Battle system; initiate!" He shouted, causing the entire area around them to turn pitch black.

"Poor thing, he's truly been dying to see you all these month, tis a true shame, a true shame..." So heavy those words seemed, something resurfacing with every syllable, every word. Blonde locks whipping at the blowing night wind, the Fighter gave a rather devious smirk as he ran a possessive hand through the younger cat's short grey hair; so soft and silky it was.
"...Doesn't it just infuriate you, Nameless-kun, the fact to which you could have easily prevented this whole thing. Everything rested in your hands, everything. Fate is most cruel, but human beings are worse than any force on Earth. If only, if only."
Suffocation. That seemed to be the only thing to describe that feeling that slowly wrapped around the other's body, tightening its painful grip.
"Doesn't it make you feel absolutely...Guilty?"
A spell.
That last one did it; 'guilty' threw the images from a year prior into focus, those terrible screams.
"Nanashi-kun!! P-please run away!! I'll handle them, but please, run!! Nanashi-kun!!"
It was so vivid, so horrible, so painful.
"Nanashi-kun!! Run awaaaay!! Nanashi-kun!!"
So terrible.
Meanwhile, thick tears flowed unchecked down the younger cat's cheeks as he buried his head into his Fighter's chest; he didn't want to watch any of it.

"I-I can't fight! Why won't you people leave me alone!?"
Nanashi's eyes widened in horror as memories from one year ago burned brightly in his mind. Memories that he had tried so hard to bury.
"Nameless, Nameless, Nameless! I'm sick and tired of it! I don't give a shit anymore!
"S-stop... STOP!!" He shouted, his hands flying to his head in a pitiful attempt to claw those horrible memories from his mind. He had refused... refused to fight. Refused to help him. And in doing so...
It was all his fault. Because of him... Kazuki... Kazuki wouldn't be...
He fell to his knees, tears beading in the corners of his eyes as he tore at his hair. He couldn't take it anymore. He wanted it to stop! "KAZUKI!!!!!!!!!!"

At those screams, those horrid screams, Kazuki buried himself further into his Fighter's chest; though he loathed the man, it was his only comfort around. True, at that time it hurt so much, but physical pain was no match for that terrible sense of guilty.
"Oh, so now you do remember, ah good. Remember Nameless, remember that all of it is your doing, such sorrow! And to think you could have prevented this. It really makes him fume, you know, angers him to no end. Isn't that correct, my beloved Sacrifice?"
Darkness engulfed the world, or so it seemed.
The soft pitter-patter of footsteps, closer and closer.
"You know, Nanashi-kun..." Standing before the tormented boy was the spitting image of the young Sacrifice, dressed the same way as the day the two met; that oversized grey sweater, those loose blue jeans, that smile...No, there was no smile, there was no compassion in those glaring emerald eyes. His face was bloodied, dirtied and he had a black eye. He looked horrible, just like that day.
"...You did this to me, Nanashi-kun, this is all your fault," a cruel little laugh, "all of it, all of your fault."
Of course, this was another one of that blonde bastard's spells, but it was so painfully real, it hurt.
"God, why can you just die and get it over with, you basically ruined my entire life, so why not kill yourself. That'd sure save anyone else the job. Hmph, you're sick and cruel, you disgust me, Nanashi-kun, you're nasty...And I really hate you."

Kazuki's words... he knew they were true. It was all his fault. It would be better... if he just gave up. If he just died. Then... then no one else would be hurt... because of him... because of...
Wait.
Something wasn't right.
"You...." He whispered hoarsely as he lifted his head. "You're not... Kazuki!" His blood-shot blue eyes narrowed dangerously as he slowly stood. "I can see... the truth." He began. "I can see the light. It pierces through the darkness like lightening!" The more he spoke the louder his voice grew... until finally, with the last word, a great burst of lightening came down from the dark sky to strike Restless.

True, it was a little alarming how easily the illusion was broken, it did cause the blue-eyed devil to glare for a few moments, but of course, he remained calm. At first, the one known as Homare said nothing; he merely looked on to the angry creature before him, a wicked smile playing on is face.
"Alas, I have seen the error of my ways, the evil of my soul. Allow my enemy to strike me down with their fury."
Interesting, but things took a turn for the worse as the blonde laughed borderline evilly.
"However, great forces of justice, one close to my soul, a being plagued with pain shall take on my judgment, shall suffer through my retribution."
Just before the piercing lightening hit, the Fighter swiftly shoved the clinging cat out in front of him, he himself taking a few steps back.
"Homare-san, please n-no!!"
"Suffer for my sins, my loyal Sacrifice."
There was no way to block it, there simply was no time. Kazuki fell helplessly to the ground with a scream, glowing shackles clutching his wrists and neck tightly as he covered his head in fear and pain. He was crying, he was sobbing now, sobbing grand tears as they poured down from his eyes. He didn't want to be hurt anymore.
"You see, you're nearly as sadistic as I am, Nameless-kun, you love seeing little Ayatori hurt, do you not? Ahh, my my, such humor this is, such music this ballad of screams is to my feline ears.

Kazuki's screams and pitiful cries echoed through Nanashi's mind, reverberating through his very body as he realized what it was that he had just done.
"Ka-kazuki... n-no! I didn't mean..." He backed away again, his eyes wide, his entire body shaking as he watched Kazuki fall to the ground, his limbs bound by cold chains.
Tearing his gaze away from the Sacrifice he glared up at Homare with tear filled eyes. "You! How could you!? He's your Sacrifice!!" He didn't understand... why would he willingly let his Sacrifice be hurt? Why didn't he try to defend? And why... why did he seem... to enjoy every second of his pain?

"Exactly," was the acidic reply from the blonde as the bound Sacrifice struggled to stand, his bonds making his entire body fell so heavy and fatigued. Kazuki's entire world was so dark and so cold at the moment, it seemed light or warmth would never be his to behold ever again.
Walking towards the injured boy with a grin, the Fighter roughly pulled the other to his feet, entangling his bony fingers in that soft grey hair. "You see, indeed Kazuki is my Sacrifice, and it is the Sacrifice's sole duty to take on the pain from any attack. A shame really, but no matter. Harken to my request Nameless: You come with us, we guarantee you'll be in good hands and little Ayatori will be spared any pain from these horrid spells we throw at each other...Doesn't that sound magnificent?"
His words, his weapon, they were so tempting, so soothing. But that terrified look in those emerald eyes said otherwise.
"N-no, Homare-san, you're lying! They said they were going to-!"
A rough tug on his hair, enough to make him whimper out in pain.
"Listen not to him, my poor corrupted Sacrifice speaks in a false manner."

Nanashi looked from Kazuki's frightened eyes to Homare's calm, cunning ones. He knew that what Homare said was most likely a lie. However, he couldn't just let Kazuki suffer like this. Not when he had the power to stop it...
After all, hadn't he hurt him enough already? It was his fault he was in this situation. Hell, everything seemed to be his fault lately. Would it really hurt so much for him to stop thinking about himself just this once?
He sighed and tilted his head downwards, his bangs shielding his eyes from view. "I'm sorry... Kazuki."
He stepped forwards. Slowly, he approached "Restless", until he was only inches away from the pair. "I.... forfeit."

"Good boy..."
With an arrogant grin as the darkness of battle as well as the chains on the poor Sacrifice faded away at the other male's words, the blonde Fighter took hold subconsciously of the younger boy's face with a wrapped around hand, pressing a finger to the smaller one's lips. "I'm glad you see things in my same direction, Nameless, it would have been a grand shame if your views were otherwise."
That glassy look in those emerald eyes couldn't possibly match those sly and cruel azure ones, there was such a world of difference between these two; they were completely opposite.
With a simple action, the blonde's finger jabbed fiercely into the grey-haired kitten's mouth, delving around in the small moist cave as it played over the boy's tongue.
"So my friend, care to come along?"
Gazing over with a broken expression, Kazuki managed to shake his head slightly, clearly telling the other subtly not to.

Nanashi watched with disgust as Homare practically molested the helpless Kazuki right infront of him. How could he say such things so calmly, while tormenting his own sacrifice!? He scowled, his ears twitching in anger as his fists clenched.
"First of all; I'm not your friend." He growled. "Second of all, I'll come with you... on one condition." He glared pointedly at Homare. "You let Kazuki go." He couldn't stand it anymore. Kazuki's pleading gaze, his pained cries. He didn't know the history behind these two, but it was obvious Kazuki didn't want to be around him. If the little bastard wanted him so bad... then he would have to let go of Kazuki first.

A long awkward silence surfaced within a few moments after the other's condition, an annoyed frown playing on the blonde Fighter's face. To further show his annoyance, the poor grey-haired boy gave a painful gag as the finger in his mouth unexpectedly jabbed the back of his throat. After what seemed an eternity, Homare finally spoke.
"I see you drive such a hard bargain, Nameless, however, I'm unable to give up my beautiful little Sacrifice. Tragic, this means I'll have to take you in by force, and that's not my cup of tea..."
With an aggravated sigh, the blonde gazed over towards the crying boy, a thin stream of saliva coursing down his chin as he shook his head slightly, more pitiful gags erupting for his throat.
It was at this moment, Kazuki could take no more.
An unnaturally fierce glare appeared in his emerald eyes as he grabbed hold of the blonde's hand, biting brutally into the finger which had been plaguing his mouth. Releasing his hold on the other's hand just as Homare gave a pained and surprised scream, the Sacrifice saw his chance, shoving the other away as he ran towards that familiar face.
"N-Nanashi-kun!" he cried out pitifully.

Though Nanashi was more then a little shocked at Kazuki's actions, he didn't hesitate to hold out his arms for him, catching him and holding him tightly in a protective embrace. "Kazuki..." He whispered, for once grateful that the annoying little brat was safetly in his arms again.
Now, Nanashi wasn't entirely stupid. He knew a good opportunity when he saw one. And this was most definitely a good opportunity.
Letting go of Kazuki he grasped him by the hand and started to run. "Let's go!" He shouted, pulling Kazuki along with him. If they ran fast enough... then maybe... maybe they could escape.
