"Yahoo! Hit it again, John!!"
The sounds of glass breaking echoed throughout the room as a hand tossed a rock up and down in a rhythmic beat. There was the twitch of a feline ear, the swish of a bushy red tail, and a heavy chuckle and smirk. The rock was flung straight towards an observation table on the opposite side of the room, and right into some glass tubes, smashing them dead-on.
"Yeah! Right on target!!"
Hugging the stone-thrower's arm was an adorable little girl, an adorable little foxgirl. Her red ears swiveled around as she nuzzled into the arm. The other, an attractive tigerboy, smirked as his thin orange tail swished behind him. It was usually like this when boredom set in, breaking things always seemed to be so fun.
It wasn't like anyone cared, the place was abandoned of any persons who would be upset with the destruction of scientific property.
"Would you two mongrels keep it down, I'm trying to read."
The somewhat pissy voice of a dark-haired catboy sounded from behind the two, as said catboy looked up from his book. Adjusting the glasses on his nose, he snorted slightly, going back to his book when the fox and tiger dismissed him with small taunts and proceeded back to their 'game.'
It was the fox's turn to break things.

"Ohh, will you cut that out?" A rather snippy voice came out of nowhere. Standing there in the doorway was another male, this time a sheep of sorts, eyebrows furrowed with annoyance. A soft, offwhite sweater hugged tightly to his flesh, and that seemed to be all he was wearing, along with a pair of underpants. "I can't even sleep around here. Everyone's so noisy!"
"Whatever." another frowning male was lounging on an observation table. The cold surface felt good to his skin; he even napped there on occasion. Fluffy white locks sat atop his head, housing a cute black pair of dog-like ears, one floppy and the other half-erect. One eye closed in half-annoyance. "It doesn't look like you were doing any sleeping to me."
The sheep remained silent, sending a glare at his dark-skinned "friend". Then he simply left without a word.
"And if you come back, I'll herd you back to wherever you came from!"

With a great huff as she paused before throwing the rock, the fox, then the tiger turned around to stare at the sheep, a distinct frown on both of their faces. That damn sheep always had to be such an asshole.
"Psh! This place is huge, can't you find another place to sleep and stay away from us!"
The tiger spat out his angry retort just as the other was leaving.
However, there was someone who wasn't going to let the jerk get away without punishment.
"Take this, you bastard! Hyaaah!"
The rock in the fox's hand mysteriously taken on a life of its own and smashed into the back of the sheep's head with an angry force, causing the girl to smirk in victory.
The reading cat on the other side shook his head in annoyance, as he picked up a book from the side and tossed it at the fox.
"Stop making such a scene, you ruffian!"

At first there was utter silence from the young ram, and then his temper started to rocket.
"How dare you!" The blonde turned to stare at the fox, crimson eyes narrowed. "All I wanted was a bit of quiet! Is that so hard?" But then his mood started to change ever so slightly. Why did they have to be so mean? That one thought was glued inside the sheep's mind as he left, slowly, eyes beaded with tears.
"Oh, great." The reclining dog sighed. "You went and got him started." Then he rolled over and tried to nap.

"W-well!! You deserved it for being a jerk to us! We're just trying ot have fun, geez!"
"Caroline, settle down."
"But John, Cassidy, he-!"
The conversation was broken when a very winded mouse girl ran into the room. It took her about three solid minutes to calm down, (and stop babbling incoherently), before she uttered a panicked statement.
"St-Stephanie is hurt!! Sh-she got her f-foot stuck downstairs under s-s-some rubble when part of th-the building fell!! W-w-w-we need help!!"
That was all the mouse said in a squeaky voice as she frantically tried to usher the others to follow her in hopes to help out her injured friend.

Well there went his chance at napping. It just suicided, flew right out the window.
Sigh.
"I don't have anything else to do." the white-haired canine stood from the table, his curled tail drooping. So the dog followed that frantic little mouse wordlessly. His face showed signs of slight annoyance, like he'd rather be doing something else. He could really care less about this situation, but someone was in danger, and if he didn't help, his Lassie senses would kick in and make him feel guilty.
Cassidy was nowhere to be seen.

When the panicky mouse had led the dog, fox, and tiger down a long flight of stairs, her state seemed to be getting worse and worse. It was when the sprawled out body of Stephanie came into view did she start crying. Now, Stephanie was a goat, equipped with stubby little horns, goat ears, and even goat legs, one of which was crushed under rubble.
Stephanie wasn't a fool like so many of the others and didn't go looking for trouble. This was a big accident.
The mouse, kneeling down next to the unconscious goat, shook slightly as he begun an explanation.
"W-well, we were j-just out f-for a walk, when S-Stephanie said she th-thought she heard something d-down here. That w-wall, it was easily broken, b-but when w-we got th-through it, this ha-happened..."
Strange, it did seem that there was an opening in what appeared to be a solid and strong concrete wall, as if there was something in there, something secret.
But that was just nonsense. Nonsense just like that very faint and dim glow coming from within the chamber.

That glowing didn't catch the canine's eye at all. He couldn't help it. His perception of color was a lot dimmer than the average human's.
The one thing that did catch his attention was a smell. A peculiar smell. The smell of chemicals. It peaked his curiosity to grandly that he couldn't help but follow where it was coming from. It smelled so strange, so foreign...
He had no idea what could be causing it, even as he walked towards that opening in the wall. With a whimper, he began to scratch at it, a few gruff barks escaping his throat, as if he were trying to get at something impossible to reach.

Raising a brow as she noticed the dog's odd behavior, Caroline the fox swished her tail in curiosity as she walked over and poked her head into the opening. With a soft hiff of her not-as-acute nose, she picked up an interesting scent as well.
And it was absolutely dreadful.
Stumbling back with a scowl as she tried to rid the smell through a series of snorts, nearly falling over the mouse as she backed away. The tiger and mouse, however, had finally freed the poor goat's leg from the rubble when the two caught their attention.
After a quick smell from mouse and tiger, also detecting that horrid stench, the strongest of the group decided an investigation was in order. It was in a matter of minutes, the feline had busted down the rest of the opening to make a clear entrance. John slowly walked in, followed by an arm-latched Caroline, as the mouse girl stayed behind for Stephanie's sake.
As soon as the two slipped inside the room, the stench of death was overpowering.
No wonder, seeing as there were remains of the death in a few scattered spots, bodies of what appeared to be human scientists. The laboratory tubes in this room were old fashion types, many of which had been shattered and broken.
That is, aside from one. There was one hidden far in the corner of the room, one which appeared to still be functioning. The dim greenish glow fanned out across the room in an eerie display of color.
And, there was something in that tube.

Hiff, hiff, hiff, hiff, hiff.
That sound was the only thing that escaped the dog as he sniffed about the room, trying to find that strange smell, that peculiar other smell. So lost in his hunt that he completely dismissed any trace of the bodies laying about the room. His mind was purely concentrated on finding that damn scent.
Oh yes, the dark-skinned male was completely in dog mode now.
At last, he finally caught sight of a tube, different from the others and emitting that smell.
That smell!
The air was filled with the sudden sound of loud, excited barking.

That sound. What is that sound? It's so loud, but quiet at the same time...I feel, I feel afraid. I'm confused by this sound...
What is it?
Is there someone there?
Upon gazing into the tank, one could see there was a body floating gently in the green oxygenated liquid. It seemed to be a young man, a young man with golden locks and long black ears that looked soft to the touch. There were many wires hooked up to that thin, nude body, obvious monitoring vital signs, so said the various monitors near the bottom of the tube. There was a black coating that wrapped around the tank near the boy's hips for the obvious reasons.
So, it was a rabbit, there were no rabbits among those living in this place.
Very interesting it was.
It also was very interesting when, just barely, did the boy's eyes begin to open, his observed heart rate quicken.
He was waking up.

Suddenly the barking ceased as the dog snapped to his senses.
He hated when this happened. With a tired sigh, he stood erect, and stared at the being in the tank. "A rabbit, huh?" It, or he, was kind of cute. In a rabbity sort of way. He placed a hand on the tank, its cold, smooth surface. Was he born - no, created - this way, too?
It was kind of depressing in a way, watching another experiment such as yourself being born the same way you probably were. Yet his tail maintained a slow, anxious wag, his ears twitching at the sound of the hare's heartbeat.
A rabbit, huh?

What is this? Is this what they call 'Life'? To be alive, to live. It wasn't all that much so far. And why was it so difficult to see? Was there something wrong? There was only darkness and haziness.
But...There was someone, someone on the other side. Who was it? Were they helpful, or harmful? So many question.
So many, but the most important was...
Why?
Quite suddenly, there was an annoying alarm, and a small red flashing light on one of the monitors. It seemed something was upsetting this mysterious bunny, so much so to the point that it was endangering his life.
It was always the same; the initial shock of birth.
"Wh-what? Who is that?!"
Coming upon the scene, the fox and tiger stared at the young man in the tank, stared up into those blurry two-toned eyes. How odd, one could note; one was a brilliant red, the other, a nasty milky white.
Sure, it wasn't that scary of a creature, but to the foxgirl, the sight of it and the alerts just unnerved her heavily.
"J-John, d-do you know a-anything about this?"
"Not a clue," was the dumbstruck reply.
It was with, what appeared to be a strenuous effort, did the rabbit reach out, his fingertips barely grazing the inside of the tank.
Who is that? That face, the outsider. Who is looking at me? Who are these people? I can't...I can't breathe, I'm suffocating. Someone, please help. Help me, I don't want to die. No, not now, not at the beginning.
It was a few seconds later that the greenish tank fluid had begun to drain out from the bottom.

The once slow wag of the canine's tail began to quicken in pace, changed to a fast and anxious wave.
Left. Right. Left.
This was so new, yet familiar to the dog, Noel; the smell of chemicals and the high-pitched beeping stimulating and arousing his senses in a way that hadn't been in a long time. Ages, in fact. It was rather enjoyable yet depressing at the same time. Sickening. It wouldn't have been so repulsive if he weren't there watching the event take place, though he'd probably be very nervous if he were blindfolded, unable to see.
Right. Left. Right.
Now the dog was starting to grow impatient. Both ears stood erect and alert on his head, giving the occasional twitch, listening for any new sort of sound.
Left. Right.
His tail slowed down gradually, giving a slow wave and falling limp against his backside. While he rather liked rabbits for reasons unbeknownst to himself, this one was starting to try his patience.

When the last of the fluid had drained out from the tank, the boy in the tube had managed to curl his knees to his soaked chest, and proceeded to shiver. This was a whole new situation; it was so cold without the liquid. Both damp blonde locks and soggy black ears hung limp from his head as he snuck a small peek from the confines of his curled up state.
Who was that? That face looking in? Nothing made any sense whatsoever.
"Is...Is he okay?" The worried, though still wary voice of the foxgirl sounded as she slowly made her way towards the tank, thankfully that annoying alarm had shut off. As she leaned closer to the glass, her hand hit a blue button on the keyboard, causing a mechanical sound.
"Wah!! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!!"
Jumping back as she wrapped her arms around her chest, backing into her tiger beloved, the glass of the tube had slowly started to sink down into the base of the tank, the sudden blast of oxygen causing a strangled series of coughs from the rabbit.
He still remained curled up, but his shaking grew worse and worse.
