Classes had finally come to an end, and the day hadn't been so bad. That was probably due to the Father's absence. As a matter of fact, Biblical History had been a breeze, there had been on of those educational movies, one about something or other about a whale.
It was only during the end of classes did things start to get interesting, maybe if for the worst. It seems there was a mild uproar in the teacher's lounge. Apparently there was something wrong with one of the teachers, it was hard to tell; the doors and walls seemed to dull the noise. But there were many phone calls being made, only to no avail.
Why would Father Juujika simply not show up for classes? He'd never been absent and not told the faculty ahead of time.
Prayers were uttered for his safety as another series of calls was made.
As to where he was, the priest was ignoring the stares of other people as he handed the teal-haired kitten a strawberry crepe. Said boy took it with much gratitude as the dark-haired male sat down next to him on the park bench. Kaoru remembered this place; he remembered walking down these lonely pathways at night long ago. He reminisced mentally about this town and all the good and bad that had happened. Idly checking his pockets, the cassock-wearing elder held his black cell phone in his hands; he had turned it off all day and he wondered if there would be any messages.
He shook his head, but turned it on nonetheless.
No one ever called him these days anyway...

As soon as the school bells rang, the chiming erupting within feline ears, Makoto had sprinted from the school in an eager haste. It was Saturday, after all, and he had told Yumi via phone conversation that he would make up for their lack of time together the day before.
He was in an especially good mood because there had been no test. Though he still had to wonder…
“I hope Father’s okay,” he muttered to himself, digging into the left pocket of his bag. Yumi looked on with wide eyes, standing a few inches away from him.
“What are you doing? Aren’t we going to a movie?”
“Yeah,” Mako frowned a bit, flipping open his phone, its metallic blue color catching in the bright afternoon sun. “But I need to call someone. Shouldn’t we change first?” He searched through his contact list.
The brown-haired companion of his huffed a bit, crossing her arms and muttering a sulky agreement.
With the push of a button, a beeping from his phone as it began to access a certain Fighter’s number, the blue-haired boy simply waited, ears sunken. He wasn’t overly worried; it was just that Father being mysteriously absent was… weird.

"Hm?"
Looking down at the slick black device, one of the priest's feline ears twitched as he heard that familiar shrill beeping. Someone was calling, and the Father had a pretty good idea as to who it was; he did notice all those calls from the school and he figured it was just another one of the faculty.
But, it was strange.
The number was labeled as 'Unknown'
Nosily peering over the older one's shoulder, the younger kitten frowned in confusion. He wondered who would be calling JuuJuu, then he remembered that the Father had sort of ditched his job today. Receiving a sudden soft shove back, the teal-headed boy pouted as he was brushed away while the man stared at the face of the phone. A few seconds later, he pushed the small green button and put the cell to his human ear.
"...This is Juujika."

“Father?” That young voice seemed full of puzzlement, perhaps a bit of excitement. Mako hadn’t expected the other to pick up; he half-expected him to be busy or asleep, as if he were ill or on some sort of religious venture.
His brown-haired companion looked up with a bewilderment of her own, ears flattened against her head. She felt ignored. Mako-kun usually wasn’t so distracted like this. It was hard to adjust to, especially since they did nearly everything together and she had her own set of feelings for the blue-haired male. Grey eyes wandered towards the floor, a light blush settling upon freckled cheeks.
“Where are you? Why didn’t you come to school?” Makoto frowned, feline ears perking. “Is it because of yesterday? That letter?”

On the other line there was anything but a reply. The dark-haired man simply sat on the bench staring at one of the trees in the park; he remembered standing under said tree during a sudden spring shower. He smiled softly at the memory. Lost in his own thoughts, the priest seemed to forget that the younger male was on the other line, finally remembering after it seemed he'd hung up.
"I suppose my absence has caused quiet an uproar, I do apologize."
He sounded like he did the previous day for that tiny bit of time; he sounded gentle and warm, not like his cold reputation.
"I had an important issue to attend to, I hadn't the chance to contact the school. I was planning on staying here until tomorrow, but if you will for my return I shall gladly obey."
Those words, something was very strange about them. It was as if it wasn't Father talking, but someone else who sounded just like him. It was eerie, why would he ask the younger male such a question?

A pause. All that could be heard on the other line was breathing. Mako was alive, but a bit... freaked out... He knew that Kaoru had the right to ask to be commanded and all... but the idea of it was still so odd. So foreign.
“Um. No. That’s…okay.” The blue-haired one mumbled. What else could he say? He didn’t want to keep the other away if it was important. “Will you be back by Monday?”
He also didn’t want the other to be away from work for too long; if the teachers were worried now, if he didn’t show up Monday, they’d really freak.

The smallest of smiles crept upon the Father's face as he listened to the concern in the other's voice. He also shied away from the pestering kitten he was with in an attempt to hide that smile; he usually never smiled. Another long pause met the blue-haired one's words as the man sat pondering his own thoughts. The silence was broken a few moments later.
"I'll be home tomorrow, I've Mass to attend, and I would enjoy it if you would be there as well..."
He strangled his next sentence before it could leave his lips; it didn't seem right to word a statement like that to his Sacrifice, so Juujika quickly recovered.
"Forgive me, my teaching instincts got in the way, you do not have to go if you do not wish, Master..."
Master. The word left the priest's lips in a strange, husky tone, full of devotion and admiration.
It was a bit creepy...

Master....?
Another pause briefly took hold of the child, and then he blinked. He blinked for those first few minutes, unable to really respond. His teacher had just called him Master, after all.
“Well… um…” The boy’s tongue fumbled a minute over his next words, still unsure of his ability to reply. “Do you… do you want to go do something after Mass, then?” He made no attempt to say anything about actually going to Mass with the other; he was still pretty stubborn about his own religious views. But…
“We could go and get strudels or something. Mom gave me my allowance yesterday… so…” A pause. A cue for an answer.

What the Father really wanted to reply with was a simple 'If that is what you command’ but after listening close to the younger male's wavering voice, he formed his statement to seem less subservient and more agreeable.
"That would be lovely, Ando-kun..."
Juujika didn't saw he'd love to, but then he didn't object. As he waited for the reply he watched the teal-haired kitten chase a group of pigeons around, only to end up accusing them of mocking him when they escaped into the branches of a tree.
"Forgive me," he finally said after a while, "but I must go now, I have a lengthy trip home..."

The child forced a smile, a lovely little beam that curled his lips and resonated within his voice. Even his words seemed to glow. This smile had suddenly become more genuine. He had never been with his teacher outside of school before. Yesterday hadn't counted.
"Okay..." Pulling the cellphone away from his human ear, pressing the little red button to end the conversation, Makoto couldn't help but be happy. Sure, Father had acted a little weird, but at least he didn't seem to hate him. It made him a lot less tense. "Yumi... you wanted to go to the movies, right...?"
The girl who seemed abandoned and lonely standing behind her friend suddenly perked up, an enthusiatic grin upon her face. "Yeah! Of course!"

The next morning...
It was a strangely cold morning, chilly it was just around the time of Mass. One could wonder why it had to be so early in the morning, but there were others, like a certain priest, who did not complain about it. And there he was, dressed in his finest cassock, sitting with the other pastors and such company in the front pews.
His thoughts briefly wandered as he recalled the trip back from his 'adventure' and how a certain teal-haired youth demanded they stop at a local desert shop for who-knows-what. Yet, still, he felt it right to take care of the younger male, considering what he had do-
"Um, Father Juujika? Mass is over...Are you alright?"
Snapping from his thoughts in a partially startled manner, the priest looked over at the concerned nun who was looking at him with big brown eyes. There was an awkward silence as the man said nothing in response, his thoughts momentarily switching to the blue-haired kitten.
After a while Juujika simply nodded to the girl and stood up.

Outside the church, it was even more chilly, the kind of cold that made even people who were indoors huddle for warmth. Makoto, of all people, should have known, the way he was standing next to the door of it, a large thermos of tea that radiated with warmth clutched in gloved hands. His mother insisted that he at least bring something warm to drink if he were going to stand out in the cold for so long.
He obviously was very dedicated on keeping his 'date' with his teacher, his Fighter.
However, the air was starting to seep through the tumultuous layers of clothing piled on his body. He was beginning to sniffle underneath his scarf, and earnestly wishing Kaoru would get here ASAP.

The sound of the church doors opening and closing broke the silence of the cold morning as both young and old exited the building with thoughts of the Lord fresh in there minds. Countless conversations were bubbled out in the morn, but out of all of them, none contained the voice of a certain priest. It didn't even seem that Juujika was even there. Indeed, every one had left the church, there was no one left inside, the pews were all empty.
"Ando-kun?"
A quiet voice fluttered up behind the boy riding on the thin dew mist that had covered the area. The sun hadn't even broken through the puffy grey clouds.
"Have you been waiting long?"
The elder male's voice did sound nice enough, but there was that underlying hint of hate that he seemed to reserve for the blue-haired youth. The priest had on his usual clothes, plus a long azure scarf and a heavy coat. What looked like a forced smile curled his lips as his breath came out in white puffs.
"I was speaking with Father Roland about something..."
He sort of let his sentence drop off.

The sky-blue kitten smiled underneath his scarf, pulling down the white cloth to reveal rosy red cheeks and nose. His clothes were no match for the cold this morning. A thin trail of mucus was wiped away from his nose by a gloved hand, his tail hanging limply, stiff with ice.
"No." His smile weakened. Kaoru still acted like he hated him. He'd have to fix that. He coughed again, sniffled. Makoto was beginning to feel a bit sick. He hated his immune system's timing.
Hurriedly he pulled his scarf back up, still sniffling and clearing his throat.
"Are you ready to go? My mom is going to pick me up later if you don't feel like driving me to get breakfast and back home... I don't want to waste your gas." How thoughtful.

One of the elder male's brown ears twitched as he listened to the younger one, his eyes studying the lad's face. He didn't answer the question right away as he stood looking, staring even, at the kitten. An uncomfortable silence passed between the two before it was broken with the teacher's softer-than-normal voice.
"Are you catching a cold, Ando-kun? Your nose is running."
It was a bit strange to hear concern in the Father's voice as one of his ungloved hands pressed against the blue-haired boy's forehead, the action causing the distance between them to shrink.
"You shouldn't be in this cold weather if you are getting sick, but if you still wish to go to breakfast, then I have no authority to stop you..."
It seemed as if the dark-haired man was going to continue to say something else, but he let his words fall. He even seemed hesitant to even think about speaking whatever he was going to.
It was weird. :\
